Phanuel Dzangare Chiweshe was a Zimbabwean evangelist and a member of the Apostolic Faith Mission church in Zimbabwe.

Retired Brigadier GeneralGeorge Mutandwa Chiweshe (born June 5, 1953) was once the Chairperson of the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission.He was born in family of four.One of his brothers passed on and he has one surviving brother and elder sister who lives in Mutare. Justice Chiweshe left ZEC to become High Judge and rose to be the High court Judge President. He was in recent years appointed as a Supreme Court Judge by President Mnangagwa.

Biography

He was born in the Mazowe district of Mashonaland Central, just northeast of Harare. Chiweshe attended Tendayi Primary School in 1961 and subsequently Fletcher Secondary School in 1969. Chiweshe obtained his law degree at the University of Zimbabwe in 1988.

Chiweshe joined ZANLA in 1975 after fleeing from the then University of Rhodesia as a law student. He trained in Mozambique. Chiweshe deputised the retired Zimbabwe National Army General Constantine Dominic Guvheya Nyikadzino Chiwenga; and commanded to the likes of the late Zimbabwean hero Brigadier General Charles Tigwe Gumbo. Tabeth Chiweshe affectionately known as Mhamha Evangelist T Chiweshe or Gogo Evangelist T Chiweshe, was a Zimbabwean evangelist and a member of the Apostolic Faith Mission. She died on 8 April 2021. The cause of death was not revealed.

Background

Husband

Mhamha Chiweshe was the wife of Evangelist Phanuel Chiweshe who passed away in 2011. Pastor Chiweshe died at the age of 65 following kidney failure. He was buried at Warren Hills Cemetery in Harare.^[1] Gogo Chiweshe and her husband married in 1971.^[2]

Children

In 2019, her son Tawanda Dzangare Chiweshe died in the United Kingdom where he was based.^[1]

Death

Gogo Evangelist T Chiweshe died in the early hours of Thursday 8 April 2021.

Her death was announced by the AFM in Zimbabwe Mount Carmel Assembly. In a terse post on social media, the AFM Mt Carmel Assembly Seke wrote:

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing on of our Mother and Pastor Evangelist T Chiweshe who went to be with the Lord in the early hours of the day.
