Robert L. Nabors 1940-2019
It is with great sadness that the Firm announces that Robert L. Nabors, a founding member of the Firm, passed away on February 28th, 2019. Bob was born on April 29th, 1940. He was educated at Florida State University and received his law degree from the University of Florida, College of Law. Throughout his career, he dedicated himself to the representation of local governments within the State of Florida and always did so with a brilliant intellect and a warm and humorous spirit. He is widely recognized as the father of “Home Rule” in the State of Florida and fought tirelessly for his clients throughout his 52 year legal career. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and we extend our condolences to all of his children and family members. Bob, you led our Firm for many years, and we will always strive to live up to the example you set for us.

Robert Lee Nabors II (; born March 27, 1971)[1] was the Chief of Staff of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs from 2014 to 2016.[2] He previously served as White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy and several other senior roles in the Obama White House.[3]
Early life and education
He was born in Fort Dix, New Jersey and lived in Arizona, Maryland, Germany, Virginia, South Korea, Florida, Italy, Massachusetts in his youth. He received a B.A. from the University of Notre Dame in 1993 and an M.A. from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill in 1996.[4]

Nabors first joined the Office of Management and Budget, straight out of graduate school, as a program examiner in 1996. Assigned to the Bureau's commerce branch, he was given responsibility for the decennial census, and while he was working on that task, he was recognized as a "budding wunderkind" by OMB Director Jack Lew, who promoted him to special assistant to the director in 1998

Nabors is the son of Army Major General Robert L. Nabors, and his wife. He was born in Fort Dix, New Jersey. Since his father was active in the military, Nabors lived in a variety of places during his youth, including Arizona, Maryland, Germany, Virginia, South Korea, Florida, Italy, and Massachusetts. He received a B.A. from the University of Notre Dame in 1993 and an M.A. from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill in 1996.
