About the Work

南プロヴァンス地方の人里離れた場所にひっそりと佇む12~13世紀のロマネスク修道院建築であるル・トロネ修道院の建築写真。シトー会を代表する修道院長であった聖ベルナールの清貧思想に基づき、装飾を極限まで排除した簡素な開口部、柱、壁、天井で構成された石の建築空間は、静寂で厳粛な「光と祈りの空間」を現出させている。当個展は、冬のル・トロネ修道院で筆者が感じた光、質感、空気感を白黒写真によって表現している。
