More than just a pretty face

Shirley Genga

From beauty queen to jigger queen, Cecilia Mwangi, 26, has seen the heights of glamour and squalor. Many may think that her pretty face is her fortune, but the former Miss Kenya, 2005, defies the stereotype — she is also a computer engineer and holds a full-time job in the technical department at Intersat Africa Ltd, a company that offers Internet via satellite connectivity.

She is also the beauty with a golden heart, as she works with Ahadi Kenya to relieve the pain of those infested with jiggers.

Cecilia enjoys hanging out with Bobby, her dog.

Says she: "I will not answer that. All I can say is that I have been in a stable relationship with a prominent public figure for two years now. Both my parents have met him. He is good to me and understands my lifestyle and I understand what he has to deal with as we are both in the public eye. We wen

Previous Miss World Kenya Winners

The Miss World Kenya finals held on 28th August 2021 remains profound to me. It is not only because I was crowned the winner, but it also serves as a culmination of resilience, patience, and hard work. This was my second attempt at the crown after my maiden attempt in 2019 and it felt nothing short of immaculate!

I remember how intense the entire process was, but that period helped to elevate my personality, thought process, and opened me up to the endless possibilities that the platform provided. My life transformed beautifully on the night I was crowned, and I continue to embrace this new chapter of my life.

Travelling to Puerto Rico was my first solo international trip and the memories created will forever be etched in my mind.
