Dr Shazia Bashir PhD, MRPharmS
Teaching fellow within the Institute of Pharmaceutical Science, School of Cancer and Pharmaceutical Sciences. Formerly an Associate Lecturer at UCL School of Pharmacy, where I also studied for my PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences (drug delivery), I moved to King's College London in 2022. My goal is to inspire and challenge students so that, they are provided with fundamental tools and skills to negotiate a confident future. As a GPhC registered pharmacist, with several years experience in pharmacy practise and industry, I inject knowledge, experience and expertise into my job role to enhance and broaden the depth of research and teaching within the department. My research focus involves the design and development of delivery systems for therapeutic protein and peptides via the oral route, including second generation vaccine antigens. Patients' preferred route of administration is the oral route rather than parenteral which is invasive and painful. Born and raised in the enchanting region of Kashmir, Shazia Bashir’s musical journey commenced at a tender age. Growing up amidst the mystic Sufi poetry and classical compositions of Kashmir, she discovered her innate talent for music.
What sets Shazia Bashir apart is her ability to convey the profound themes of Sufi poetry through her soul-stirring renditions. Her voice becomes the vessel through which Sufi themes of love, devotion, and spirituality find expression. Her interpretations of Sufi and folk songs from Kashmir have earned her widespread recognition in the music industry.

The Government College University Lahore marks a significant milestone as a female Professor appointed as the head of the university for the first time in its 160-year history.
Prof. Dr. Shazia Bashir, the university’s Dean Faculty of Mathematical and Physical Sciences, is appointed as the acting Vice Chancellor of the university.
The Punjab governor conferred upon her the additional charge of the post of Vice Chancellor for a period of four month or till the appointment of regular Vice Chancellor.
Dr. Shazia Bashir is an Old Ravian and has an extensive background in academia. She earned her Master’s degree in Physics from Government College Lahore, and MPhil from the University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore. She did PhD from the Technical University, Vienna, Austria. She has been serving GCU Lahore since 1996.
Her academic journey is distinguished by her tenure as the Director of the Centre for Advanced Studies in Physics and Institute of Physics and Chairperson, Department of Physics where she contributed significantly to research and development in the field.
