Biography
David F. Poltrack is Chief Research Officer, CBS Corporation and President of CBS VISION. Poltrack oversees all research operations at CBS encompassing audience measurement, market research, program testing, advertising research, and monitoring of the national and international video marketplace. He designed and oversees TELEVISION CITY at the MGM GRAND, Las Vegas, CBS' state of the art Research Center. CBS VISION is a research unit exploring and offering insight on emerging technologies, media consumption patterns, and advertising value in the media marketplace. Poltrack is past chairman of the Media Rating Council; chairman of the executive committee, Marketing Science Institute; past president, Market Research Council and in 2009 was inducted into their Hall of Fame; past chairman and current board member, Advertising Research Foundation. As Adjunct Professor, New York University, he teaches in NYU's business and communication schools. His commitment to both innovation and integrity in the media industry is unequaled, and his 40+ year career at CBS is an appropriate testament to one of Dave's inspirations and guides, Dr. Frank Stanton, whose research leadership led to his elevation to the presidency of CBS under William Paley. "At CBS in those early years, there was an environment in which I felt comfortable, with people right above me pulling me up," Dave recalls. "But it helped to have Dr. Stanton to emulate. Dr. Stanton was a presence at CBS."

David F. Poltrack is Executive Vice President, Research and Planning at CBS Television. In this post, which he has held since April 1994, he oversees all television research activities of CBS Television, encompassing audience measurement, market research, program testing and advertising research. He is responsible for the monitoring of the national and international video marketplace. He also designed and currently oversees TELEVISION CITY at the MGM GRAND, Las Vegas, the innovative Research Center providing ongoing consumer feedback concerning all programming of the CBS TV network as well as the other Viacom networks. He is also Adjunct Associate Professor at NYU, where he teaches courses in marketing and media at both the graduate and undergraduate levels in the NYU Stern School of Business and the NYU School of Education and Communication.
