1969
At the age of 18, Hilfiger begins to buy pants and bell-bottoms to resell them according to his own changes. For this purpose, he opens the People's Place boutique in his hometown of Elmira, which becomes a meeting place for young people.
After the boutique had to close after seven years, Hilfiger moved to New York with his wife and from then on devoted himself to designing clothing. However, he turned down offers from Calvin Klein and Perry Ellis with thanks.
1985
The designer founded the Tommy Hilfiger Corporation and launched clothing under his own brand name for the first time.
1986
Hilfiger pays several million USD into a fund after it becomes public that the company was involved in the exploitation of seamstresses, mainly in China.

In 2006, private equity firm Apax Partners acquired the company for approximately $1.6 billion.[6] In March 2010, PVH Corp., then known as Phillips-Van Heusen, bought the company.[7] Daniel Grieder was appointed CEO in July 2014, while founder Tommy Hilfiger remains the company's principal designer, leading the design teams and overseeing the entire creative process.
