John W. Henry is in his 22nd season as Principal Owner of the Boston Red Sox. Since becoming a steward of the franchise in 2002, the club has won a Major League-best four World Series Championships, claimed five American League East titles, and made 11 postseason appearances. In the 21 years from 2002-22, the Red Sox recorded the fourth-highest winning percentage in baseball (.551), notably setting a franchise record with 108 regular-season wins in 2018.
In addition to the club's on-field success, Mr. Henry and his partners have overseen the preservation and protection of Fenway Park, the oldest operating ballpark in Major League Baseball. Since 2002, the ownership group has invested over $400 million in improvements, ensuring the ballpark's viability for future generations.

Born in Quincy, Illinois, in 1949, Henry spent most of his childhood in Forrest City, Arkansas, where his father owned some farms. When John was 25, his father died and he took over his family?s farm and taught himself hedging techniques. He began speculating in corn, wheat, and soybeans, He eventually became a commodity trading adviser. Henry says he has an ability to read between the lines. Discerning which sets of information have relevance to the future is very difficult and requires an ability to see beyond the pure numbers. He gives the example of raw diamonds going up in price for 25 consecutive years from 1955 to 1980. In New York City, everyone believed diamond prices could not go down. Diamond traders stopped doing business to some extent because they were making so much money just on their inventory appreciation. Similarly at this time, he says, he owned farmland in the Midwest. Everyone believed prices of farmland could never o down, and many of the farmers he know believe they had to purchase land at prices and interest rates that made kit impossible to make money. In

John W. Henry is a founder and the principal owner of Fenway Sports Group (FSG), a global sports, marketing, media, entertainment, and real estate company anchored by three iconic clubs, the Boston Red Sox, Liverpool Football Club, and the Pittsburgh Penguins. In addition to his role as control person for all three teams, he also serves as Director of NASCAR’s RFK Racing, of which FSG owns a stake of just under 50 percent. Fenway Sports Group and Mr. Henry also own a control interest in Boston Common Golf, a new tech-forward golf team representing Boston and New England, featuring PGA TOUR stars Rory McIlroy, Keegan Bradley, and Adam Scott.
Prior to founding Fenway Sports Group, Mr. Henry was chairman and sole owner of the Florida Marlins from 1999 through 2001 and a limited partner of the New York Yankees from 1991 through 2003. Mr. Henry takes an active role in Major League Baseball matters and currently serves as Chairman of Major League Baseball’s Business Board, is an Ex Officio member of its Executive Council, and is a member of the Committee on Economic Reform
