Ronaldinho Became A Teenage Sensation After Scoring 23 Goals In A Single Game
It’s the kind of popular legend that is usually attributed to a “friend of a friend” and rooted in invention and fantasy, a cheap tale to explain the otherworldly. When professional football freestyler Billy Wingrove met Ronaldinho as part of Nike’s Joga Bonito advertising campaign, he said: “I’ve got two questions. One, is there a heaven? The Tottenham ‘Freestyler’ comes from a footballing background with his father turning out for Arsenal and his cousin played for Spurs. Yet Billy Wingrove became less interested in the game itself and more into the tricks. Having been inspired by Nike’s famous Airport Ad with the Brazilian squad Wingrove practised incessantly. In 2003 he entered the Nike freestyle event in London and out of 6,000 contestants reached the semi-finals. This was to prove a watershed moment for the Tot
