TN: Nine IAS officers gets new assignment

Chennai (12.10.2023): The Tamil Nadu government has enacted transfer and posting of IAS officers with immediate effect. Names of these officers are as follows:

  • G Lakshmipathy (IAS: 2015: TN), Sub Collector, Chengalpattu, has been transferred and posted as Collector, Thoothukudi District.
  • M Thangavel (IAS: 2017: TN), Joint Managing Director & Project Director (World Bank and Asian Development Bank Projects), Tamil Nadu Urban Habitat Development Board, has been transferred and posted as Collector, Karur District.
  • Dr T Prabhushankar (IAS: 2013: TN), Collector, Karur District, has been transferred and posted as Collector, Tiruvallur District.
  • E Sundaravalli (IAS: 2007: TN), Managing Director, State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu, has been transferred and posted as Commissioner of Employment and Training.

    IAS officer to head MTC after 22 years

    Chennai: After a gap of nearly 22 years, Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC), Chennai, got an IAS officer as its head as Alby John, Thiruvallur district collector, was posted as its managing director on Wednesday.
    Swaran Singh was the last IAS officer to helm MTC in 2001 and this was apparently the last time the corporation recorded profits. He was known for his key reforms in improving revenue through bus ticket sales.MTC workers’ unions welcomed the move. “MTC has been struggling with huge losses worth several hundred crores and badly needs an efficient top management to clean up the mess,” said transportation activist S Kamal.
    Besides Alby John, the state government transferred 25 IAS and IPS officers. Karur, Tuticorin and Thiruvallur districts got new collectors. M Thangavel, joint managing director of Tamil Nadu Urban Habitat Development Board, has been posted as Karur collector in the place of T Prabhu Shankar, who will be Thiruvallur collector. G Lakshmipathy is the new Tuticorin collector.
