Ridley Scott has had a successful relationship with Science Fiction, notably through the 'Alien' series and his adaptation of Dick's 'Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?' into the cult-classic 'Bladerunner'. He has recently toyed with the idea of a film adaptation of Aldous Huxley's 'Brave New World' and Leonardo DiCaprio has been linked to one of the lead roles. As an avid fan of Huxley's dystopia, I'm very excited about seeing a modern screen adaptation. However, Scott has noted the problems with adapting the novel, adding that 'it's tough', so I won't be holding my breath. 195 Brave New World: Chapter 1
A SQUAT grey building of only thirty-four storeys. Over the main entrance the words, CENTRAL LONDON HATCHERY AND CONDITIONING CENTRE, and, in a shield, the World State’s motto, COMMUNITY, IDENTITY, STABILITY.

Wintriness responded to wintriness. The overalls of the workers were white, their hands gloved with a pale corpse-coloured rubber. The light was frozen, dead, a ghost. Only from the yellow barrels of the microscopes did it borrow a certain rich and living substance, lying along the polished tubes like butter, streak after luscious streak in long recession down the work tables.
“And this,” said the Director opening the door, “is the Fertilizing Room.
