Jade Aurora MacRae is an Australian soul singer and the daughter of professional musicians Joy Yates and Dave MacRae. MacRae is best known for her top 40 singles "So Hot Right Now" and "Superstar", both released in 2005. In 2012, following her marriage to Australian hip hop artist Phrase, MacRae continued her musical career under the new moniker of Dune.

Early life and education

Jade Aurora Moana MacRae[citation needed] was born in London, England,[1] to a musical family. MacRae's mother is respected session vocalist Joy Yates and her pianist father is Dave MacRae.[2] After moving to Australia before the age of eight, MacRae grew up in Sydney. She began learning the piano at the age of three years and the violin at the age of eight.[1]

Jade MacRae is the daughter of noted jazz and fusion keyboardist Dave MacRae (Gill Evans, Chet Baker, etc) and singer Joy Yates, who worked with the likes of Gladys Knight, Dusty Springfield, and Van Morrison, among others.

Born in London, Jade relocated to Australia at an early age where, after studying piano/violin at Sydney Conservatorium of Music she developed a multi award-winning career attaining top 40 hits with 'So Hot Right Now' and 'Superstar'. This versatile, elite artist was an in-demand 'voice for hire' on the multi genre session scenes, sang the Australian anthem at a FIFA World Cup match, appeared on various TV shows, and toured with the theatre production 'Broad'. She has shared the stage with the likes of James Brown, Ray Charles, and John Legend.

In 2020 Jade refocused on her own songwriting, releasing the album 'Handle Me With Care'. 'The perfect comeback record' according to The Guardian, demonstrating her love of 'classic' soul and old school r&b leanings. This has now been followed up with the recent release of 'IN MY VEINS'
