Biography

Mr Rehman has dedicated his professional life to Ophthalmology since 1994. His first mentors noticed his natural ability to meet the demands of Ophthalmic surgery and Shafiq sailed through higher surgical training gaining his CCST in 2002 and was invited to take up a substantive NHS consultant post at Calderdale & Huddersfield NHS Trust in the same year.

Over the next ten years, Shafiq proved himself to be a great pioneer of breakthrough treatments, he has distinguished himself on numerous occasions by spearheading major ophthalmic developments and as such has successfully notched up several noteworthy ‘firsts’ in the Yorkshire region and beyond.

Zia ur Rahman Barq (Hindi pronunciation:[zɪjaːʊɾɾɛɦ.maːn̪bəɾk]) is an Indian politician and Member of the 18th Uttar Pradesh Assembly since 10 March 2022 to 4 June 2024 from Kundarki constituency and Member of Parliament since 7 June 2024 from Sambhal as Samajwadi Party candidate.[1][2][3]

Early life

Zia ur Rahman Barq is the son of Mamluk Ur Rahman Barq and the grandson of Shafiqur Rahman Barq, who was the former Member of Parliament from Sambhal.[4][5][6]

Political career

In his student life, he was a Senior Cabinet Member & Acting Secretary of the Aligarh Muslim University Students' Union (AMUSU) in 2005-06.

Before 2017 Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly election, he was the member of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen.[7]

Shafik Rehman (born 11 November 1934) is a Bangladeshi journalist, political analyst, and writer.[1] He is credited for introducing Valentine's Day in Bangladesh.[2] He is also the presenter of the Televisionshow “Lal Golap”,[3] aired on BanglaVision.

He has worked to gather support in favour of Bangladesh in England with Justice Abu Sayeed Chowdhury during the liberation war of Bangladesh in 1971.[4] Rehman founded the weekly Jaijaidin in 1984 which was critical to General Hussain Muhammad Ershad, a military leader who assumed power through a military coup in 1982. He was forced to leave the country in 1986 after the Ershad government suspended the declaration of Jaijaidin and was not allowed to return Bangladesh till 1991.[5][6] Rehman was a director of Spectrum Radio in England.[7]

Rehman has been serving as the editor of magazine Mouchake Dhil from 2009.[8] Rehman was arrested on April 16, 2016, on the charge of “plotting to abduct and kill”
