American businessman (born 1971)
William Rancic (RAN-sick; born May 16, 1971)[1] is an American entrepreneur who was the first candidate hired by The Trump Organization at the conclusion of the first season of Donald Trump's reality television show The Apprentice. He is married to E! News host Giuliana Rancic and currently resides in Chicago, Illinois.[2]
Early life
Rancic was born on May 16, 1971, in Chicago to Gail (née Creagan) and Edward Rancic, who died of cancer in 1999.[3] Rancic has three sisters, Beth, Katie, and Karen.[4] He grew up in the suburb of Orland Park, in a family of Croatian and Irish heritage. His paternal grandfather Nikola Rančić had immigrated to the United States from Split.[5][6][7] Rancic attended St. Michael's School and graduated from Carl Sandburg High School. He earned a B.S. from Loyola University Chicago.[8]

Carolyn Buster, born and raised in Hammond, Indiana, had no formal culinary training save a 10-week gourmet cooking course offered by Sears, Roebuck and Co. back in 1962 when she was working in an office at a Hammond steel mill.
In 1963, she started working on her dream of owning her own restaurant. She was offered a job in Chicago by noted Hungarian chef Louis Szathmary, as an assistant for his test kitchen at his new restaurant, The Bakery, and to assist with his cookbooks. She also worked in the dining room and kitchen to learn the intricacies of the restaurant business.
In 1974, she and her husband, Jerry, decided it was time to open their own restaurant, called The Cottage, halfway between Hammond, Indiana and Chicago, Illinois in Calumet City, near a neighborhood where all the executives from the steel companies lived. They had planned for a low-key opening, but the buzz about a Szathmary apprentice drew 103 patrons on the first day. Mary Ellen Westlake, 89, passed away peacefully at home Tuesday, December 29, 2020.
Mrs. Westlake was born on Oct. 17, 1931, in Hornell to Nathan and Mary (Pierce) Tucker of Alfred. She was a 1949 graduate of Alfred-Almond Central School. Described as “radical” in her high school year book, she pursued her goals with energy and enthusiasm throughout life.
She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Latin from Alfred University in 1953 and her Master of Education in Guidance Counseling, also from Alfred University. On April 17, 1954, she married her high school sweetheart, John E. Westlake, a Korean War veteran, who predeceased her on June 13, 2
